DCT - Day Care Training - Transfer of innovations for training need analyses to increase quality of further vocational training in the field of children´s day care and early education
The project
Day care and early education are principal topics in social discussion in every partner country (Pisa evaluations etc.) of the European Union. There is a clear agreement that the quality of early education has to be improved. In this regard one important attempt is to enhance the quality of further vocational training of professionals on day care. The background of the DCT-project are long term observations which show that further and continuous vocational training on early childhood education is not necessarily based on evaluated and identified actual and real training needs. Until now there are no relevant tools for transferring focused training needs to VET-institutions offering training courses for day care professionals.
In order to seek for more quality in day care VET, the target of the project DCT is to develop and transfer a new interactive net-tool for discovering training needs, offering training need analysis and transfer changing training needs from working life to training institutions.
As a starting point and basis we will use Edufin´s tool – (R.E.D. Evaluation System) – which is used in the most of Finnish municipalities and day care institutions. Edufin has ten years experience in evaluation of training needs in the field of day care and early education. The 10 European partners represent know how of early education and ICT. As a part of the training tool a handbook on “How to identify training needs in day care?” will be developed as well as a web-forum for discussion of training needs in children’s day care between professionals in working life and specialists in training organisations.
The final result will be useful for all occupational and interest groups in the field of day care and early education: professionals in working life (kindergarten teachers, nurses etc.), day care centres as well as centres for further vocational training. Another important result is a new European network (
DCT-Forum) focused to improve the quality of vocational further education in co-operation between working life and training institutions. It is continually important to take care of the quality of further education in order to guarantee availability of high quality and well motivated professionals.
